This customer wants his house re-stained so that he can sell it. I'm not sure if the dark areas are an old stain/sealer or algae like what is on the roof, which he wants cleaned as well.
Question:
1. Best way to clean the wood siding with some areas being dark and others being light?
2. Advice on pricing, cleaning and stain/sealing?
3. Advice on a good stain/sealer for the wood and the best technique to applying it.
4. Once cleaned will it leave dark areas where the areas of the wood are the darkest and if so if I apply stain will those areas show through?
you can softwash that very easily, it will just take patience with those darker areas. Once you softwash it you need to heavily rinae it and rinse again. I use an oil based, one coat stain called WoodGuard on my own house, which I have been using for years. It is a log home stain, but works great on all wood. It is very thick and has insect repellents in it. It comes in a good amount of colors, plus a base you can have tinted. Buy it from Blairstown Distributors. Just google them and Woodguard.
Doesn't need to be stained. Save some money and clean something else to help them sell the house. Check this video we did https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ke7FVgxUK-Q just week housewash mix, rinse well and applly bleach wash or the wood restore.
