The Roof Wizard was contracted to clean this Marriot in Hanover/Whippany, NJ, this past week. The project was a challenge with the hotel being extremely busy and booked out solid every day. The building ranges from 8-11 stories and only a lift could be used on one and half sides. All the other sides are surrounded by the 20,000/SF conference center, which also was booked solid. The 78 balconies were a task in themselves. We softwashed the entire building Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday which put us a day ahead of schedule. The hardest part was dealing with the extreme wind, rain and 48 degree weather on Wednesday. The surface was a Siloxane coated EFIS, which was infested on two sides pretty bad. The hotel management had two other quotes from local pressure washers, who said the project would take a minimum of six days, and they could not assure them that the coating would not be damaged.
Thanks Hank. Usually we use a booster pump, but this hotel had 23 hose bibs scattered everywher. there were 8 on the roof. I went up a week early to map it out, measure off hose runs and I tested the water pressure. The majority of the bibs had between 90 and 100 psi. It was great pressure for once.
It takes a little bit of planning, but I just see it in my head and map it out on paper. I measure off every spot I am going to stage from, how many runs of hose, and most important, I try to think of every bad thing that can go wrong. I come up with a written plan on that and then I hope I don't need too. It really boils down to preparation and my employees are awesome. We all work as a team and pretty much pick it apart.
Thanks troy. it is the biggest cleaning job yes. Dollar amount, square footage and amount of days on one job. We have done entire 25 building apartment complexs that were larger, but did them over a month, a few days a week. When I was in the roofing business, this would have been considered a small to medium sized job.
My son and I stopped by while John was doing the job. He was sitting in a lawn chair with a blanket trying to stay warm near a rig, smoking a cigar, had a hat that said "Boss", 2-way radio in hand, keeping an eye on the mix levels in the tank. A real Jersey supervisor.

I just spewed my coffee!
Did the same with my drink when I read John's response, "Tim is just mad because they mad him get a scooter license for his Prius." Love the camaraderie some people have. :0)
Keep laughing while I will be driving to orlando and back north with 45 gallons of gas in January. Just wait till I get the ladder rack and trailer hitch mounted
Or you could just buy a sidecar for a small motorcycle....not sure if the prius can handle it though. I saw one for sale when I took my son to the circus. A clown was using it.
