Had two recent occurrences happened to me that I wanted to share with the community. Two weeks ago my crew was out doing the curbs for an HOA.  A gentleman rolled up in a car and asked to speak with the project manager and inquired about our workers comp insurance. He happened to live in that neighborhood and worked for the Florida division of insurance, workers comp division. By the time I got him on the phone he had already run our information and found out we were in full compliance.

The second thing just happened this morning. We are setting up for a hotel cleaning and a guest comes out of the hotel and badges my project manager and identifies himself as an OSHA safety inspector who happens to be staying at the property. He was actually very complementary of our set up and commented on our use of harnesses and other safety protocols he saw in place. He also mentioned that he would be returning that afternoon to come home to the hotel and told us to make sure we were still in harnesses when he returned, (in other words: don't slack off as the day progresses). 

I'm actually very proud of my project manager for setting up properly this morning, having a harness is already out in place, and running a clean jobsite. 

These two instances just further made me realize that you never know when, or where you'll get inspected. Always be by the book, don't take chances, have your paperwork in order and follow the law.
