Post a pic of the pump where you broke it.
Do you need to replace all the metal connections? I mean yeah plastic is better but how is it holding up?

You could do all those in some sort of Poly fittings, but you would need to figure out how many you have/need, and if you want it just like it is. It looks like 1/2" hose, but it is hard to tel exactly from a pic.

Shaun the pump is probably trash. Get a 5850 from bob at pressuretek or bill from power wash store. Make a drop stick to put in the tank from the inlet side this way you can use it for transfer. on the outlet side if you have a hose reel plumb it up and get a super swivel. These last longer than the regular swivels. Or you can use a 1/2 inch hose barb then put a 1/2 inch quick connect on one side of the hose and a male threaded quick connect from the pump. You can get this done for 300. If you need hose you can use 1/2 poly or keri tek which will cost more. If I wasn't getting ready to leave for Florida I would draw you a diagram. Give me a call and i will try and walk you through it.

Here is the pump Its cracked all the way from the threads back to the inlet base. Bummer. I think I am going to order a pump kit from Pressure teck. $400 or $500 I think.

I have cracked them before. I have put pump back together and taken super glue and gauze and made the repair. It worked till I got new pump from Bob.

Man the hits keep coming. Lol. I have a used Hannay hose reel and just spoke to the manufacturer, and they told me Its not capable of withstanding SH. Does anyone know how long I could use this reel anyway, or if its even safe. Its 17 years old. The last thing I want is to have this thing leak all over a customers driveway. Thoughts anyone.

Most reels and manifolds will ultimately fail with the use of SH. It's the cost of doing business. If the funds are tight and you can't replace it with a aluminum or a stainless unit the just use it for storage with a quick connect/disconnect.

Hank, If you dont mind, could you explain to me a bit more on how you set up a quick connect and disconnect coming out of your pump, or snap a few pics. I am going to have to go that route until I get established enough to buy all of the bells and whistles. I am a novice at pluming this stuff up, but I will learn in a hurry if someone teaches me once. Thanks

I use a 5850 Delavan pump, which will soon be replaced by a fat boy. I run my 1/2 hose approximately 3' from the pump to where my reels(summit steel 22") are mounted. Once I pull off all of my hose I just connect them together. Bob at Pressure Tek or anybody else for that matter can set you up with the right connections.

I appreciate the advise Hank. It looks like I am leaning toward the drop stick method for the inlet side for now, and I will use your setup on the outlet side. So when you are done with a job, do you just empty your chemical hose before you disconnect and reel it in?

With the pump off I'll pull my drop stick out and let it drain back into the tank. Then I'll drop it into a 5 gallon pail of water to rinse out the pump and hose. Then disconnct and wrap up my hose. My system will change come spring time as I want to have everything plumbed to the tanks I have on the truck. Everything will be controlled by Banjo valves.

when you are pulling out of the 5 Gallon bucket of water, where do you blow the rest of the chemical that is in you 300' of hose? .

I'm sorry I forgot about that. We have 200' of chemical hose so if we are only doing one house that day then I'll drain it into a carboy with a screw on cap and take it back to the shop. If we have multiple jobs then I'll put it in the mix tank(s) and compensate for it later.

Justput it back in mix tank. Pull stick out of mix for a few seconds and run pump. Than put it in water. When the air starts blowing out of your nozzle the bleach is cleared. Waters not going to hurt your hose

Shaun, I have cracked the Delavan pump threads a couple times but used the liquid loctite on the threads and put the pump in a place where it would dry for a day or two but also put loctite on the crack in a few applications so it would seal and it held up for a few months.

The Hannay reel is one of the best you will every buy, I have bought many brands and not many last 1/2 as long as the Hannay.

I believe you can order the Stainless Steel manifold for the reel and use a pvc swivel (get it through Bob at Pressuretek or Russ at Southside Equipment) so it will last a long time or use a Super Swivel but all swivels will get damaged with roof cleaning chemicals over time but these will last a while. The Stainless Steel manifold will last a long time with the SH. The regular steel manifolds will last a while but will get rusted out because of the SH as it is more corrosive than Acids and Caustics.
