Any and all ideas on maintaining the shine?  We've had our system for 6-8 months now and it could use a polishing/cleaning.

Aluminum....So.....i dunno, mild acid solution maybe?

Also; Spray systems are polished aluminum, so that could make a difference, right?

I used to have a aluminum polishing business. After you wash wheels or any aluminum, take a hand full of flour from the cubbard ( cooking/baking flour) and rub the surface with it. It will remove any and all dirt and fingerprints. ALso you can use #0000 steel whool to shine it as well. It has to be #0000 ( the finest they make). The polishing kits leave a haze and black residue after your done . The flour works great to remove that

You can use aluminum brightener to break down the oxidation and it will have a nice satin aluminum finish. Then if you want to add shine any of the alum wheel cleaning kits with a speed ball and fine polishing compound will buff it out like a mirror. If you have significant scratches use 800 grit wet sand to remove them and then wet sand with ULTRA fine 2000 grit or finer wet sandpaper. Then acid, then speed ball.

This is what I do to mine.

most stores that sell truck tool boxes have a polish somewhere close by in the stores. I would think that would work. and definately use a machine to do the grunt work.

Is it safe/wise to use an acid around bleach?

If you are careful and you have rinsed out your tanks and truck and neutralized it. Good catch.

This product, F102, will remove oxidation from polished aluminum without damaging the finish. Dilute 1:25, spray on, allow to dwell, and rinse.
F102

5 gallons is usually the smallest quantity I sell, but I realize a pail would last most users forever. So, for SWS BB members, I will bust out 1 gallon jugs for $12.00 each plus shipping.
