what pump to use

I now currently have two large tanks in a shed that hold 600gal total. I get them filled with SH and pump them into the 100 gal tanks in my trucks. The pump I’m using is a small Dulavan 5850 which takes forever. Does anyone have any ideas of a pump that would be cheap and pump more gallons a minute into my trucks?

AC im not sure if i heard you say a pool pump would work. What kind of pump did yo use for your big tanks?

Thanks Josh

YUP! 3/4 horse $150.00 pool and spa pump. That will do ya. Put a clean water rinse port in the intake end with a valve and a out let with a valve on the other. Then you can completely rinse out the pump head daily.

now to do that i would have to gravity feed the pump right. I do have bulkheads on the bottom of the tank put i have them turned off and capped for safety. The pump i have now sucks from the top of the tank. Maybe ill just set it up to get gravity fed and use the pool pump. Let me know if im explaining it right

Firstly Bleach Wash is a product sold by SoftWash Systems that is a finishing soap that neutralizes bleach and washes it away.

Yes sodium hypochlorite (bleach) is corrosive and things left to soak in it for days on end will possibly be damaged by the bleach. Things treated topically with bleach cleaning solutions are not as suseptable to damage from the corrosiveness of the bleach. Things that come into long term exposure to bleach like a pumps head need to be rinsed daily to extend the surface life.

Hope this helps,

AC

Also on the roofs the SH less concentrated. When running through a transfer pump its 12-15% sodium Hypocholorite rather than on a surface to be cleaned which can be from 1-4%.

Is this the same pump you would look to for rinsing or is the psi too low?

i called a company and the cheapest price i could find for a pool pump like that one was like $400. he also said you are going to have to run a lot of water through the pump because you have to flush out the leaf ketch basin. The guy said most were self priming. i dont know what to do. Im going thought like 500 gal every too weeks so i just might buy some tanks much bigger. but im running the show out of home so i cant get a tanker truck in my back yard. you guys have any ideas

The one with the leaf basket is exactly what we used. The leaf strainer screws off.

Laurie, 35 feet is a good working height. What tip are you using a 20 or 30????

Even with my 7 gpm 80 psi pumps we get 35' most of the time at 45 psi going to reel and the rest back to the tank. When we need more height we throttle the system to send 70 psi to the reel and get between 50 and 60 feet depending on wind.

Been using for about 2 years.  Combining will get you more volume, almost 9 GPM, not more height.

Laurie,

Also remember that is 35 feet from the tip. Try raising the tip. See Chris with Palmetto's post on using extension poles.

Good point.  I have also found that the angle of the dangle makes  a difference.

Would a sump pump work for transfering ? I dont know if florida residents use them but they are usually in basements to pump out rain water or when the water table raises due to rain and floods basements. They plug into the wall and I would actually submerge it down in the tank. flow is 29 GPM

NO. The SH will eat it alive. Use a small pool or spa pump. AC

The Generation II SoftWash Systems come with a Throttle Valve that can be adjusted and locked down to precicely send some of the out flow of your pump to both your hose reel as well as back to your mix tank. You can actually set it to run 70 psi and 7 gpm back to your tank when your wand is closed and then when the wand is open it diverts 45psi and about 3.5 gpm to your hose reel while simultaneously also agitating your tank with the remainer.

We will have retro fit kits at Softwashapolooza at cost for those who have systems that are less than 6 months old and at a show special for those who have systems over 6 months old that want to retro fit their Generation I SWS system.
