One of my passions is racing bicycles, so today I'm giving back to the biking community by softwashing the concrete surface of the Alkek Velodrome in Houston. The Alkek Velodrome is a 333 meter, concrete track. Its banking ranges from 33 degrees in the turns to 9 degrees in the straights. and is about 6 meters wide. I'll have a surface cleaner with me but I'm hoping the softwash will do the trick. I'll post pictures later.
Sorry AC, I didn't even write ARCOT in the banks today. I started at 1:30 today and ran out of mix at 5:00. Used 270 gallons of 40% mix for 333 meters by 7 meters! It was cooling off in the afternoon and it seemed that I was getting a much more active cleaning in the sun than in the shade. I'm going to go back next weekend and finish up. The track manager stopped by late in the afternoon and I stopped counting the "Wow's after 10. It was an incredible transformation. Got plenty of before photos and ran out of light for the after photos but I'll go back and snap a few. The beauty of soft washing the surface is that it doesn't tear up the concrete and track bike tires are typically aired up to 140 psi so you want a SMOOTH surface. Not to mention it would have taken weeks to pressure wash it and I did it in an afternoon. Velodrome Softwashing will go on the resume!
