I am bidding on house that has dark cedar siding with water sealer. How do i go about it as far as SH mix, dwell time and rinse (BW or Wood restore ) and any other steps i need to take? 1st time with cedar siding, I've done wood fence.
Your best bet is to do a small demo so homeowner can see results. I would start at 1% and adjust from there. You could use wood wash or greenwash with some terrawash. It should clean right up as long as the dirt/molds are on top of the sealer.
Thanks Chris and Tim,
I got job without having to do a demo. Anything i shold expect from color lightening up. I want to managing customers expectations as far as the color goes.
Gary find a concealed area and to a test. This will help you gauge the strength (% needed) and will show you first hand the color change. Strength and dwell time will be large factors in the final outcome. I recently did a cedar shake house that had been continually stained dark. Previous company pressure washed only. Well each layer of stain had growth in and under. I grossly under bid that job. Had I done a test spot or two I would have had a better handle on consumables and time. I did recoup by up selling...
Hope that helps some...

Thanks Jesse, that helps a lot. I will test a few spots and go from there. I'm getting most jobs from thumtack and testing out best way to bid for jobs.
