1. Might it be UV damage? Is it basically where the sun touches the deck and up against the house where the shade is doesnt have the white residue?

2. Do you have the new January release of the Certified Applicator program? There is one entire class just on softwashing wood. Many techniques are discussed there for wood.

3. Also did you use a gold colored bristle "color code" heavy brush? We often use a brush to remove the UV damage from the wood surface exposing fresh cells of wood beneath. Of course brush along the grain of the wood not against.
