Got a call from a customer that wanted me to come look at his outside lamps. Looks like oxidation that will clean up simply enough, but we don't want to cause harm to the finish. Is this a job for Oxy Wash?

No Bob. I'd rub it down with a light oil or even wd40.

I have used Brasso Polish and tarnish remover for those before.

AC

The guys tried a light Oxy Wash mix, but not too successful. Gonna try the WD40 next. Thanks for the tip, AC.

I would be nervous washing/rinsing that light fixture, as don't want to get water in it.

Would steel wool be a bad idea, and does Bleach Wash work on dried spots (if that is CH damage)?

Main question is should that light fixture have been covered before cleaning?

Still learning, vic

P.S.- Wish you would have won the Mustang, Bob. blankstare

Hey Vic. For sure the lamps should have been covered, and my guys know better. They softwashed some rake trim above the lamp and didn't think a "little bit" of mix on the lamp would be an issue. Lesson learned.

We've discussed steel wool, but the owner doesn't want them polished. So we'll try the WD40 and I'll let you know.

As for the Mustang, I think I convinced the new owner to name it "Bob".
