I WAS CONTACTED BY ONE OF THE LOCAL CHURCHES AND THEY WANT TO HAVE THE STONE CLEANED AROUND THE BASE AND THE SILLS....QUESTION WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST WAY TO DO THE SILLS WITHOUT STREAKING. THE BRICK... THEY DON'T WANT THE WHOLE BUILDING DONE....NOTE THE STONE IN THE PICTURE IS DRY...THANK YOU IN ADVANCE...
The SOP for cleaning hard stone surfaces like this is to pre-moisten with a hose end sprayer with water and Green Wash. The idea is to create a pathway for the chems in the next step to wick in or follow the moisture deeper into the stone. The Green Wash allows the water to break the surface tension on the stone and allow the water to be drawn into the stone. Then use a stronger softwashing solution. I'd recommend as much as a 50/50 bleach to water with one ounce per gallon Green Wash in the mix. This will blend with the water now in the stone from step one and wick deeper into the stone.
May I also recommend adding some magic pixi dust to the mix as well to kick the bleach up a notch.
AC THANKS FOR THE INFO.. THE PROBLEM IS THE STONE ON THE WINDOW SILL..SHOULD HAVE MADE THAT A LITTLE MORE CLEARER ....DONT WANT TO STREAK THE BRICK...WITH THE SOLUTION...WAS THINKING JUST FLOOD THAT AREA WITH CLEAN WATER...

Id treat the stone under windows the same. However watch the window frames. Dont strip the powder coat off if they are aluminum.
AC, applied the 3%mix plus PD and the green wash ...didn't even phase it so i tried f9. 50/50 nothing, tried it full strength ....removed a little with the use of a brush ......SOOOO. anything left in the bag of tricks....did have a sidewalk foreman walk by and he suggested sand blasting...lol....my next move is to powerwash it with my 4000psi unit at 6 gpm and see if that puts a dent in it,,,,, unless anyone else has a better idea.....
AC as stated earlier i used green wash sh and ch also used f9..and nothing worked,,, SO i started to do some research and found the solution to the problem in all places GRAVE STONE RESTORATION...bingo....SO AFTER WATCHING A HALF HOUR OF HOW TO RESTORE SANDSTONE/LIMESTONE GRAVE Stones.....I discovered a product call D/2 sent the picture to the manufacture and ask them if this product would work and they said most deafeningly. shipped it out, got it the next day and it did the trick..Mike was close with the power washing i had to use a little electric one i have had to reduce the tip down to a NO 8..... to bring the pressure down to around 100psi...it worked great no damage to the stone very little flaking......the board met for the demo and now they have to give it a think......if anyone is interested in the D/2 product give RUSTY a call at 214 686-0014....helluva nice guy...by the by this is the same chemical they use on the WHITE HOUSE IN .DC.......A GALLON OF THIS STUFF COST ME $ 59.00 DOLLARS WITH THE SHIPPING...
