Does anyone have any suggestions for cleaning copper roofs. I have the opportunity to bid on 10,000 sqft of copper roof and also need some help with coming to a price based on difficulty compared to our normal process. Is it twice as much work, three times etc.
A copper roof that size is going to take a full week or more to clean, very very labor intensive. Just for an idea. I clean small 25 sq foot overhangs of copper and I charge 400.00 for it. This is for cleaning and sealing. I would not touch a copper roof that size for less than $1.25 per sq ft.
Dan, Thanks for the advice I had heard it was a pain staking process so I was thinking $1.65 a sqft, not including the added cost of man lifts or a crane. I guess my question for you is how do you clean it and what do you seal it with. You can PM me if you prefer.
AC, I believe they would be happy with either, as long as it is consistent. It has pretty severe Black streaking. It's four Stories, very steep and it's going to have to be done out of man lifts or a crane.
if they want statue of liberty green they are almost there now. As the copper ages it will get darker and darker until the copper oxide becomes green. I'd leave it alone.
Copper is a pain and very labor intensive. I found that one product would work on one panel and not on another. Mind you I have only done the one job so don't place much weight on my reply.
It's too much to type but call me if you want to talk about what I used and tried.
