Hey everyone. Have you guys ever dealt with this? A client wants us to clean her roof and this pergola covers her entire back porch. They just had it installed last year so the stain is all in good condition. I was thinking of laying some plywood on it and then covering it with tarps to direct the runoff. What do you guys think? Any other suggestions that have worked?
There isn't any obvious spots to test. Everything is pretty visible all around. I initially was planning on just tarps but I was worried about the mix building up and sagging in between the wood slats. Thanks for the quick help so far hoping someone has some experience with this.
Ties your traps and you would be fine. If you test on some parts of the wood and everything is fine dosent mean that all the wood would react the same just tie your tarps and no worries!

just do a small test behind a flower pot. Just use a spray bottle. If it reacts have customer sign a waiver. There is no way you can protect 100%. It probably won't react. If no reaction, just keep pergola wet, and use bleach wash.
Hey josh if you don't have tarps do like Tim says I've done a couple a homes with pergolas and I just put tarps and tie them down! Have not had problems as of yet!

Thanks for the help guys, sorry for the slow response. I think I know the answer already but with roofs over pergolas do you go ahead and rinse with the tarps down? This area of the roof is really dirty, might have to hit it a couple times. Thanks again!
It will be tough getting tarps to stay tight up against the house on the top side of the pergola. I would still tarp it good, but do what Tim said.
If you are cleaning just the roof than I wouldn't think much mix would get on the tarp, just the rinse water from keeping the house wet and what no.
I don't think there will be any change to the finish on the pergola. (hopefully :)
Thanks for the advice guys. We used alot of tarps/rope and rinsing and it worked great! The roof came out amazing and the pergola is intact (stain wise). Thanks again!
