Need to put a quote together for a house that has 5800 sq ft of vinyl. It has all the regular issues...algae, dirt, rust ect. This is a bigger house than I am used to quoting So I decided to just go with pricing it by sq ft like Flatwork. Math comes out to be about $1200.00. Am I in the ballpark?
jeff, if your math is right and it is 5800 sqft of surface area. your price is low...we do power washing.. this year we are going to use the soft wash system..with that said we charge .35 /sqft of surface area... that includes gutters and windows ..but you have to charge what ever the market will bear.....
You are about right for a list price of just siding. You will get that job done real quick. Even if they didn't ask offer a price for other services like gutters, windows, driveway, deck, roof. You should be able to do a bunch of services for $1500 and be done in 6 hours or less. Exceeding expectations will lead to referrals.
Thanks guys. That price was just for the siding. He has three walk out patios plus possible a paver patio ( can't tell for sure do to all the snow) that I can add on.

Once he sees how nicely the siding cleans up, he'll want to add on!! Bring him out 20 min into the job and upsell!

I do it per lf. $1.5 for 1 story. $2 for 2 story. 3 for 3. Etc
Michael,
Like you we provide our house wash quotes based on linear foot. For us it's a lot easier. Our price structure is in line with yours.
Hank
Using that method, which I have always used in the past myself (but am thinking of changing to actual sq ft after this) would have brought this particular job in at $495.00 if I charged $3.00 LN FT (165 x 3.00 = 495.00). It is only 165 LN FT around the base...but 35' tall.
You're reading it wrong. 165 Ln ft x 3 levels. Those numbers should now work for you.
HANK
Huh....that makes more sense. When I do ln ft pricing I have a set price for a one story or a two story....different....I'll look at that way this spring.
Congrats on getting the job Jeff. Now we just need this snow to stop and some warm weather to melt what we have on the ground.
Thanks Dan.
Tell me about it. Sitting here looking at the next 9" of snow coming down. I was actually seeing some grass in my yard yesterday with the two warm days we had. I did see some Robins in the yard the other day so spring is got to be getting close.

It is a whole lot easier. I cant imagine coming up with square foot for siding for every job. We don't have time for that.
We we measure everything by satellite
Michael,
Using google earth to measure is extremely helpful to give us an idea on the size of the home. This along with info given to us by customers also helps. We still visit most sites beforehand as my trucks are always on the go. Many times customers have told me it's only two stories and then we get there and find out it's got a full walk out basement or some other issue.
I've never looked at a home before quoting it. If you use bing maps if has a more detailed view than google earth. We use google earth strictly for measuring.
Bing maps allows you to see how many stories walkouts concrete etc.
Another possibility would be goilawn but you have to pay for it. They guarantee not having tree cover blocking your view. I used it before, didn't see where it was worth the extra money

Hi Micheal,
I looked at Bing Maps and could only see the top and one side of my house. What are you using to get a look into their backyard to see walkouts? I like the idea of not running out to see every house when they are routine...but this also gives you the option of seeing it first then deciding if it is worth a trip out there in person.

Push Birds Eye View. Zoom in and then there will be arrows by the compass to change your view
