I'll be getting the 12.5 as well. The price was the same yet I wont need to use as much. I think the calculations are the same either way.....meaning you need to do a bit of math to get the end result.
12.5% in a 100 gal. tank is a 1.25% mix if you use AC's method of mixology.....:}
Get the 12.5%. Be aware that in the summer months, check your shipping papers that come with every delivery and see if the sent you 15%. Sometimes it is stronger in the summer montAlso if so you can get away with less in your mix with the same results. Not a ton but , a gallon here and there. Also, most of our SH on the East Coast is made from salt water, because we are so close to the ocean.
I have a 1100 gallon tank going in my shop in two weeks. Just signed up with Univar and got a decent price too.

What's the shelf life on 1100 gallons? I've been hesitant to buy bulk fearing it would go bad before I had a chance to use it all,
I'm not 100% sure, but it has to do with temperature and if it is left in direct sunlight..I have been told. I would not let it sit more than a couple weeks. My tank is inside and based on my usage, I should get a refill every other week at worst. in the busy months it could be more often, I'm not sure. They need two day notice at most in my area for deliveries. If you call in the morning it can be there he next day.
My supply chain for SH is terrible. Univar will not deliver to my location, and they charge $3.50 gallon for pickup - and it's an hour drive each way. And I can only pick up 100 gallons at a time without a CDL.
So I have made the commitment to CH. I can get that 10 minutes from my shop and they always stock it for me. I pick up 200 lbs at a time for $2 per lb.

Wow....im not going to complain about my pricing anymore. I didnt know how bad it was for you guys. I get my SH for $1.40 gallon and CH for $160 for a 100 lb bucket....my supplier is 2 blocks from my house. I can fill at the end of the day and they will stay after hours for me to fill up.

8 out of every 10 houses in Florida has a pool and they are open all year long. Pretty much everyone down there sells SHWay ou could probably go o Wawa, Walmart, Baby Gap, Bath and Body Works, and find SH...
try a local pool or chemical company and cut a deal to buy only from them for a season.
I was at $2.73 a gallon with seaboard . Then they changed me to $2.20 a gallon. I spoke with Univar in FL and we will be getting a tank in 3 weeks for $1.93 a gallon.
John $1.80 is great. I have to call for a lower price ! ha ha
I am in the same boat as you are Brandon. I cant find a company that supplies SH in a larger scale within 90 miles of my house, I can buy it buy the crate, but its almost $3.00 a gallon in most of the pool supply store here in Central, MI, but CH is everywhere. I dont think I have a choice in the matter. I am going to have to make it work with CH with my starter setup and find the best way to mix it up.

Based on your pricing your CH at 65% is yielding a 12% strength at 1.05 per gallon so if your purchasing SH at .95 per gallon at 12.5% I would think your better off unless you have a reason for using CH over SH.
GREGG. FOR EVERY GALLON of a 12.5 solution you need ... 1lb .68 oz of CH to make a 12.5% liquid.....this is based on a app i have for chemical dosing.....here is the link for the app.....i use the one for solution strength mix cal.... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.dev.dosage.calculations

Sometimes a few companies going in together can help. I went from paying $3.05 a gallon to paying $1.65 by doing this. Although we will be switching to Univar once our season starts.
I use the CH for my pool and the strength of that is 73% it is a better product for the pool. I have augmented CH with SH only when I'am running low and need to finish. But now you can do that with Terra Wash on most surfaces buy turning up the inline injector control valve on your new rig. Mine works really well no more Allen wench.
Mix for CH it would take 3.13lb to get 1% in 50gl mix 6.26lb for 1% 100gal mix.
I just left a Pool supply company in my area, and they want $3.50 per gallon if bought in singles and $200.00 for a 55 gallon drum @12.5% and they make you order 3 drums at a time with a $40.00 depost on each drum, Wow. Bummer.

Shaun,
According to Univar's distribution network(http://www.univarusa.com/distribution.htm) they have a location in Grand Rapids and Detroit. Reach out to them and they will be able to answer any questions you might have.
Probably Wednesday or Thursday. They said as long as I call before noon, they can deliver the next business day. I have to mount my pump to the wall & set up the fill hose. I am most likely going to do that Monday or tuesday.
