Howdy all. One of this weekend's jobs created special headaches and challenges for the Spray Wash Crew.

This a a small portion of one of our local hospitals. They are our largest customer. 9-10 months ago, when I originally bid this job, I had planned for either a crane or 120' lift to give me access to areas. I had not realized the infrastructure on the ground had changed so significantly. A driveway which we were going to use had been cut and 40' x 10 x 4 foot deep area had been excavated to accommodate a semi-truck/trailer mounted piece of medical equipment. This piece had just been moved when they ordered the cleaning. Additionally new awnings had been installed...all of this came together to make large lifts/crane unsuitable for use in that area.

Additionally, when I arrive yesterday on the job-site, I found a huge construction dumpster had been placed right where I needed to be. That killed the viability of bringing in a move maneuverable 85' lift. Rather than reschedule, we decided to change our plan of attack. Rather than attacking this job from the "bottom up" we decided to go from the "top down".  I picked up a small 35 footer from Home depot, which was small enough to maneuver through the parking garage to the top of parking garage and about the midway point of the building. Between fire escapes and this smaller lift, we were able to access everything we needed to and still get the job completed at as scheduled.

The paint on the poured concrete portions is shot, the dark streaks will not lighten any further. However my customer knew this going into the job.

As my father always said "there's always more than one way to skin a cat". This was a prime example of finding another way to skin that cat. Since using a lift was out due to the reconfiguration and obstacles, we climbed to the top of the building, Took the orifice off of our cradle skid spray hose, and just let the solution run down the building. It also took $1200 worth of lift cost ( per day on a 120 footer) and reduced it to a four hour rental of a 35 foot lift for $200.

Ed, I typically price by hourly rate. For something like this I was around $300/hr. It was a 12 hour project, split up over 2 days due to rain.
