I am going to be moving in the direction of disposable coveralls for next year.

I am scoping out prices and products now though. I can find Tyvek suits for $3.67 and I can find decent substitutes for $2.31. Who here has experience with the Tyvek suits and how long should I expect the crew to get out of them?

Any tips?

Thanks

Zach you should average at least two to three days depending on the jobs.  You can make them last longer if site prep and post cleaning you remove the suits.  They tend to tear otherwise.

Thanks Mike I was hoping you would chime in, have you found anyone that sells big bulk for a discounted price?

No and your prices are half what I pay so I need to find out who you were looking at using.  I was actually looking at frog toggs that Ray had posted about before. Ordered a pair to test out.

$3.67 tyvek suits

$2.31 knock offs

I am hoping to find a bulk distributor if I buy 500 at a time.

We also get 2 - 3 days out of each suit, paying asbout the same price as you stated. As for the frog toggs - I tried them early in the season and was able to get about 1 1/2 weeks out of them before they had to be thrown out.

Do you have your employees sign off when they grab another suit? To keep track of who uses what and how often.

I do keep tack of how many and how long for each person, have had to have a "talk" with one that was going thru suits faster than normal. back on track after that.

No but I am working on a complete inventory tracking system which would include the suits this off season.  I found that the knock offs were more paper like and tore more.

That's what we are going to do with all provided PPE Mike. It is worth the money to provide the protection for the guys.

I tried them a couple of years ago and as soon as I would squat down to pick something up the crotch would blow out. Got 'em at Lowes & Home Depot - gave up after blowing crotches out after 5 minutes on the job. Good luck guys.

My guys will just not wear them, I've bought everybody frog-togs, they seem to like them when weather is cold. However I just can not get them to wear coveralls.

We us the white coveralls from Red Kap. They look extremely professional and clean up nicely with bleach. they will bleach out your logo so go with a gold stitching.

The Dickies are the best route. You will burn through a BUNCH of disposables over one Dickie. Also you can silk screen on the Dickies but not the Tyvec.

Just tell them unemployed people have a choice between coveralls or no coveralls and employed people wear coveralls.
