Mike,
WOW great before and after. Could you go back and take another after from the same angle and with same sunlight? Id love to use that in the community!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Was that copper flashing around the chimney and over that little cubby hole? If so, since you don't walk on slate roofs, how did you handle this? I have a request to give an estimate on a slate roof and I can't tell from online Google Maps photos what the flashing is so I wanted to ask. I'm pretty sure it is not copper, but better safe than sorry.
Copper flashing no big deal. Just rinse the roof and then final wash. Tell homeowner there maybe some discoloration on the copper if it drips on it after you are gone from the chemical reaction, but it will weather back to original in a few months.
Nope, the flashing, it's copper. Told her up front I won't be able to get up to the flashing to cover it so the chemicals may cause some streaking, but it will weather back. I'll rinse and maybe do a little agitation with a soft brush between coats around that area to reduce spraying in those sections.
I wasn't her first choice in roof cleaners, but she trusted what I told her in my original comments on Thumbtack - I told her Panoramic Clean would never ever walk on her slate roof because if a piece broke, it's not a simple task of running down to HD or Lowe's to find a matching piece of slate. The other person was going to walk her roof in the process so she told him no thanks and gave me the job. The slate was on the thinner side, and she doesn't have any spare if any broke. As I was doing the measurements I noticed almost every single house in view had slate roofs...time to see if some of this popcorn marketing will start going off. :0)
Try to find the local guy that does the slate repairs. They will often handle snow guards, copper gutters etc. They have an in with the nicer homes and if you run across something you will have a referral partner. Make sure you get a video review from homeowner and put on youtube. A before and after with a piece of literature mailed to neighbors works well in nicer neighborhoods.
