Question: After a successful day of slaying GM I always run 5 gallons of BW mix through my pump, hose, and tips to neutralize the affects of the SH. Once the system is filled with BW and allowed to circulate for a minute or so, should we then follow up with clear water to displace the BW, or can we allow the BW mix to remain throughout the system until the next job?
Are there any adverse affects to the system if we leave it in like we would do with winterizing it with RV antifreeze??
I would think running clean water through the pump after the BW would be a good idea. When you go and treat the next roof the first thing through your hose and onto your roof is going to be BW... a SH neutralizer, then your SH won't work (or work as well) on the GM.
Leave it in there..when you start the next job spray whats in the hose on driveway, or walls, or bucket. Once you hear the spitting, Air in lines, then you know you are at the Mix. Leaving it in there keeps it lubricating the pump. the way I do it is, I just add a little BW to the bottom of the bucket once I have ran about 10 gallons of water through it, so that the last thing the pump drinks is the BW. I want the BW to stay in the pump and in the gun overnight.
I'm relieved because that's how I've been doing it. When I get to the job I have my BW bucket next to the truck, place my gun in it with it locked on, suck some air through the pick-up for about 15 seconds, and then dip the suction back into the SH.
Like you said, that "air slug" indicates the end of one product, and the beginning of the other. I just reverse the procedure at the end of the job/day. This allows me to "capture" my product that is still in the system and not waste any more than necessary.
Just wanted to be sure that leaving the BW in the pump was not detrimental to any internal workings.
Just another FYi... We keep our tips and four bangers in a plastic coffee mate can half full of water and bleach wash mix. My guys put them in the between jobs and at the end of each day. They soak when not in use. We change the mix every Monday morning also. I have been using the same tips since March with no issues.

For QC's we use Magic Lube which is available in most pool supply stores or on the internet. We rinse our tips after every job with just plain old water. So far this year we've done 62 roof cleanings, 21 house washes and numerous other soft wash projects with no issues (knock wood).
