I have a customer with a very dark stained cedar sided house. The walls and soffits and gutters need to be cleaned, but the owner would like the walls to lighten up a couple of shades.
We ran a test on 1/2 of the end of the garage. Used 2% CH with green wash, rinsed and then sprayed bleach wash. The walls look lighter because they are now clean. Wife would like them a little lighter.
We use CH exclusively due to the surrounding lake. Don't want to ruffle the political feathers. We've thought about longer dwell time, but can't let it sit too long. Too many windows to protect.
I don't think SH has any effect on wood unless you let it dwell and hope it bleaches it somewhat . I'm thinking a strip, brighten seal like you would a deck when a customer is looking for something different.
It will be interesting to see some other responses, I've never had a customer ask me to lighten wood before.
Mix your CH solution the eve before and allow it to settle and draw out the sediment from bottom with your pump before you move the truck. Make sure your draw valve is set to the 50 gallon tank, send valve to 100 gallon tank then turn on pump. All of the sediments will be drawn out and you will be left with clean pure hypochlorite solution.
