Hello, I was looking through the discussions for information on the correct, safe and recommended ways of storing small amounts of CH, GW, and BW at home outside. I see many discussions on 55 gal drums or larger vats etc. I do not have a garage. And second question deals with transport of small amount s of CH and GW.
1. Storage at home: By small amounts I mean 100 lbs of CH or less (2 -50 lb containers) and 20 gals of BW or less (4-5 gal containers), and 15 gal or less of BW. As of now I do not plan on doing large scale amounts of Soft Wash jobs, focusing on weekend work only as a starter. Not the most cost effective way of buying the chemical I know, but for me it is workable while I learn and gain experience while maintaining my full time job. So large amounts of CH and GW on hand are not necessary. My plan was to build a LOWE's style small shed (wood or aluminum) 6x8 or smaller,to keep them out of the elements and provide good ventilation. With the CH, BW and GW seperated on the floor.
Question: Is this sufficient for safe storage, any concerns? Should the three be physically seperated for storage by a barrier and/or required distance?
2. Transport: I also wont be transporting more than 50 lbs of CH at anyone time, I do not plan on using SH. So realistically I will have 50 lbs of CH or less, and 5 gal of GW or less on the truck on any one day. I have the printed MSDS and a truck box in the making. My transport amounts are under the reportable amounts so I dont thnk a spill contingency plan is required, but I will make one if recommended. I saw the SH spill contingency plan but not one for CH.
Questions: Is there a sample spill contingency plan for CH posted on the board, or one available? Is it required? With these small amounts is a DOT number required?
Thanks in advance and sorry for the long winded questions !!
V/r Jeff
