We are pumping out flyers and getting calls left & right which is good but I got a huge driveway & walkway someone wants cleaned then stained. It's partial concrete and partial pebble/futura stone. Looking to use a 3-4% solution since it's not stained badly.
My concerns are:
What is the appropriate solution, 3 or 4%?
How long should I let it dwell before rinsing? They homeowner will not be home and I was just thinking of laying it down and coming back in a few hours to rinse or drop a second coat once it dried?
Lastly, they want us to stain after. I would like to stain the following day or two. I figured after rinsing really good and letting it dry out a day I could come back and stain. Any one have any insight? And should I BW after rinsing good? Don't know if the BW will block the stain from adhering as well.
They also have a large deck and boat house I was going to hit with the 2%. What's the dwell times like on this before I rinse and BW?
Hi there I have also just done my first test on concrete paving stones with a 4% mix and the lichen is holding on. Did it yesterday, and did some rinsing yesterday, and some more today. Is the longer I leave it the better? Does rinsing reactivate the product? If I left it to weather, would you get a better result? Another question, I am also after, does it need a second coat when applying??? Sorry piggy backing on your post Matt, but questions seem to be almost the same Cheers Garon
Garon, no worries. I am still looking for help in this. I want to clean with a 4 solution, let dwell a few hours, rinse good and then use Behr Cleaner and Etch. Dont know if I can uae the etch over the SH after rinsing good. Comteplating laying down bleach wash before etching....

Have you ever stained concrete before? If not then I would pass on that part of the job.
As far as pavers and concrete go you really need to rinse with a surface cleaner and pressure washer to remove the moss in the joints and to show the final product on concrete.
Michael - Wish we had passed. Already knee deep in this job and this concrete is horribly covered in moss. Looking to use cleaner and etch tomorrow and then stain the following day.
Mike is very right. We have developed some relationships with some local "concrete guys", who we can then sub the job to and make a couple of bucks or just use for referrals. It is all about making the cutomer happy in a pain free way, and for you to keep your rig spraying. Jobs like this can bog you down and you might miss a nice roof & house cleaning that would have yeilded a bigger profit. Take it as a lesson learned, but try to find the positive in it.
Thanks Guys. I'm going to convey to the customer we'll be back in a week or so. I may end up coming back and powerwashing as well. Big waste of time - lesson learned. I'm trying to establish some relationships with local roof repair/replacement guys as well as concrete paint/stain.
