I have a large residential project at the Jersey Shore to do in early May and the customer just called and asked if I could also clean his 1000/SF plus, natural Mahogany Deck at his neighbors house. Has anyone done this with SW chemicals? I am just curious because of the natural wood and the money it would cost to replace the deck if I somehow discolored it. My insurance guy would not like it either.
Not that I know of I have to go look at it, but the owner told me it was only a couple of years old and it was imported from some island and it was expensive. I know that it is pretty dark.
It is not faded it is as dark as the second pic u have there. It really isn't that dirty, they just want something cleaned because their neighbors are getting thow joule house done. Keeping up with the Jones'
I have been restoring decks for six years. Mahogany......I would definitely not use this as your first "wood" project. There are so many factors involved. Honestly, find a good pro in your area that's UAMCC or call Scott @ OPW decks and ask for who he knows in your area. I always have some projectors that I wished I had passed on....
Thanks for the info. I have done wood decks in the past, but never Mahogany. I did a Cedar deck yesterday and it turn out great with a 1.5% mix of GW. I was not sure if the mahogany would react the same as other woods. I know it is a extremely hard wood that does not take sealer very easily, and needs to be done on a yearly basis. I will reach out to some locl guys..Thanks.
