Removing Linseed Oil from Concrete Sidewalk
Permalink Closed

Guys

I need to remove linseed oil from a concrete sidewalk before we can seal it with Saltguard WB.  Any ideas?  The stain has been there for awhile and the homeowner has tried several products to remove it

Thanks AC
Yes I did try Mineral spirits and then followed up with BT200 and one other product from eatoils.

Doug had given me some ideas too. It appears to have been there for awhile, so it may not come out easily.

We just walked in from another day of roof cleaning in PA so I will read up and post some more later.

Have a good evening.

Mineral Spirits contain oil and wont break down oil. Lacquer thinner has no oil and will do better.

Mineral Spirits are used for "loosening" up and speeding up the cleaning of old heavy black dark oil stains, then when the BT200 is apllied the BT200 can get into the pores of the concrete and begin eating all the hydro carbons.

Yes that was what I do Doug
This time, it is linseed oil and it did not respond like a oil stain. I am going to apply it some more and see if we make any more progress. I am afraid the homeowner's chemistry has altered the stain...

Doug I am really glad to hear you are bouncing back. We need you!
