Just wondering. The past two seasons, (the last part of last year and started again this year), I've broken out in a poison ivy/oak type of rash. The itching has been driving me berzerk!!
As an EMT, I've eliminated as many possible causes as possible. i.e. laundry detergent, foods, medications, chiggers, etc. The only two things left I can possibly think are causing this are either sun exposure or a reaction to the SH.
I doubt it has to do with sunlight because I'm also getting it on my back, along my collar bones, along the bottom of my ribs, and the tops of my biceps, where I'm protected from UV by my shirt.
Has anyone else had anything similar? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

That's what I'm wondering. If so, the allergy "developed" over time because I've been spraying houses for about 10 years or so. Just wondering if it was "bleach poisoning"? I thought perhaps it was a reaction to the deck stripping and neutralizing chems from the 75 decks I had to do last year. From here on out I'm using a Tyvek suit and respirator on every job that involves the bleach.
Yea, that would be nice, but as a part-time, sidework business I don't think I can afford to purchase insurance, workmens comp, etc, etc, for employees. I'll just have to "suck-it-up" and power through it until the kids are out of school.

you sound alot busier than a "sidework-partime business. The extra cost to have employess do the work really isnt that much. I hope you have a general liability policy for your company. If so then all you need is workmans comp on your employee. You said you did 75 decks that alot for a part time business.
This just happened to my head tech. It is located on his arms. He is using Goldbond medicated cream on it. He is also keeping it coverd.
Is the GoldBond working for him?? It is causing me to develop Excema on my affected areas. The doctor gave me a Rx for it, but still itches like the Dickens!

You're probably right Mike. I'm already subbing overflow work out to one of the other firemen I work with. He handles my overflow house washing and gutter clean-outs.
I sub out to him which is great because he has his own equipment, insurance, and buys all his own chems. This way, if a neighbor asks him to do their house while he's out there, it's no skin off my back.
In other words, I can't wash ALL the houses in Richmond, but if he picks up more work it is wear & tear on HIS equipment and his cost for cleaning chems. Also, Heaven forbid he injure himself or damage something, it's on HIS insurance, not mine.
I could use a couple more subs like him!! I'm within 4 years of retiring from the fire dept. and would love to just drive around and "check in" on the jobs.

Yes, the Goldbond Cream worked well for him. Have you tried it or found another solution? Hope it clears up!
I am using a Rx called Vanos, for excema. Seems to work well, but doc said it can thin out your skin over time. My arms are mostly cleared up, but still have some spots on my hands and new areas on the back of my neck and shoulders. The SH mist can be extemely "drying" to exposed areas, that's for sure!
The Tyvek suit works okay, but only lasts until I squat down to do something. Then the crotch rips out instantly.
Going to keep some Goldbond lotion on my neck for the next few days and see how it works for me.
