I’m not sure how I want to clean this roof tomorrow. If I soft wash it, I have concerns about over spray because the properties in this area are almost on top of each other.
The north side of the roof is pretty bad but the south side is almost spotless. I could probably sling a ladder over the ridge, anchor it, and low-pressure wash the whole roof with 3-4 moves. Winds are supposed to be 10-20kts here tomorrow. This property is in the oldest historical district in the country.
The pictures were taken today. There’s a party going on across the street, in the old town square, that’s why all the port-a-jon’s are lined up on the sdie of the house.
I’m wondering how you guys would approach this job? Personally, I’m leaning towards a low-pressure, hot water wash for the roof and soap/water, brush, and hose the house – because it has lead paint on it. I bid this job on the high side so if it takes several hours I'm okay with it.
So how would you do this job? Bear in mind that if something goes wrong it may well make the front page of Monday's newspaper.
yeah, not having gutters is a great reason for having that plant wash in your inventory!! I have run into that several times. I agree with Doug, Softwash. Stay on the ground and water the heck outta everything. Those winds are really high. I will not wash, usually when winds are above 15mph
I agree, Soft wash. Spray control is a very big part of soft wash technique . Don’t use your wand at full force. Jobs like this one is a good time to have gun type want in your arsenal of, I can do any job. And a power washer never comes to thought.
If thats a metal roof you will need to use a lite powerwashing to achieve good results. I recommend using a 6010 soap nozzle. I also would wait till there is lower winds and no block parties.
Winds on the waterfront were more like 30 with higher gusts today. We couldn't do the job at all. I may have to look into getting a permit to block that side of the street for a few hours. After being down there this afternoon, I don't think soft washing is going to be an option unless I do it early AM; like 6 or 7. A lot of families go to the old town square across the street and hangout, and of course, they all have little kids in strollers.
Finally made some progress on this job. I had to pressure wash this side of the roof because there was heavy tree sap on it. If you look close, you can tell the top right near the ridge needs a lite coat of soft wash mix. I'll hit it when I soft wash the other side tomorrow.
I found this area isn't nearly as busy during the week as it is during the weekend. While I was there yesterday I got 2 more jobs from neighbors!
Edit: 04/04/12, I meant 'top right' not 'top left'.
I finished the job today. Soft washed the whole roof. It looks real good. I'll post some pics tomorrow. Too tired to upload from the iphone right now.

Well, I finally finished the job yesterday. I soft washed the entire roof. Did the street side early, when nobody was around. The Green Wash cleaned up the top right corner of the roof nicely, just as I suspected it would.
The back side was a piece of cake. It took all of 30 minutes to wash, Brush (some spots), rinse, and treat with Bleach Wash.

A few questions.
1. Did you use Green Wash on that one spot by its self no bleach??? I have found on my own pool deck that Green Wash alone with water will kill most any algae within a few days.
2. How did the Bleach Wash do?? Did it add sheen to the roof when done??
1. I used Green Wash and 1% SH on the whole roof. I wanted to make sure I got any algae that the PW'ing missed on the front.
2. Yes, after rinsing I shot a coat of Bleach Wash on both sides. Can't tell about a sheen, it's still raining today, but I'll be down there this afternoon to do another small job I picked up yesterday.
