This Log home was softwashed only. No pressure washer was used.
It is 15 Years old.
I have a 60gal. "one batch" tank that feeds through my Delevan 5850 12volt pump. This pump feeds through 200ft of the yellow "chemical" Kuritech hose. I used .30 and .40 tips for application.
The mix was 1.5 gal. of SH 32oz of GREEN WASH, and topped 60 gal. tank w/water. The mix was allowed to dwell for 3-5 min. and was rinsed off with just a 3/4" water hose w/ a sweeper nozzle.
A gallon and 1/2 of SH w 60 gallons of water and 32 onuces of GW? Am I reading that right Chris?
Yes that is correct.
When I clean vinyl I use 2 gal. of SH and (Used to use Simple Cherry) but now GREEN WASH. This works great with very little chance, if any of plant damage. I use to use 5gal of SH in that 60 gal. mix, but kept experimenting "down" to an acceptable mix of SH to Water. The sweet spot for me is 2 Gal. SH. I used 1.5 gal SH on the log home as not to hurt the wood and create fuzzing. I know the GREEN WASH also bumps up the bleaching action. I wanted to be very careful on this home, so no damage was caused. If needed I would have upped the mix and continued on. The 1.5 gal SH and GREEN WASH did the job very well on this one.
Wow that is awesome, your now the king of "how low can you go". I wonder if that low a mix would work on Hardi Plank????
I use it at this concentration on Hardi board homes they are building around here as well. These surfaces are painted. I think that is the same as Hardi Plank? Now with the GREEN WASH it will be even better. This concentration has worked well so far, I have been doing this for a year now. (Nov. of 2010) I have a 60 gal. tank and I fill it somewere between 50 and 60 gal. never exactly the same, but it works.

Chris,
If you get a chance please go back and get the after pic of the front of the home at the same angle as the before pic.

Will do. It is raining this morning, so I will get out tomorrow when the sun is out.
Wow, there’s no way I can beat Chris that’s a low mix. I used 46 gal. H2O 3 gal. SH and 32 oz GW. On the deck. And house.
Glen,
I was just explaining the mix ratios above. I actually used a total of 180 gal or 3 full tanks of mix. This covered the entire home, wrap around deck, and ceiling of the wrap around deck.

Looks ready to stain now!

I would love to get this as a stain job, but the home owner does not want to stain it right now. They just wanted to get rid of that black dark color that the wood took on. Now it is back to the origional light color.

Maybe the next time you have to go back to clean it you can convenience them to stain it.
If you got the stain job, what stain mfg/product line would you recommend to the HO?
Regards,
Paul
Thanks Paul.
On a job like this I would use Sikkens Stain. It runs about $350 per 5 gal. around here. It is the best for Log or Wood Homes. Wood Tux is great for decks and fences.

Hey Marcus,
It cleaned up on the first application. I had a place on the front that had thick green algae built up. I took a deck brush and scrubbed it. It came right off with the agitation. The remainder of the home cleaned right up with the mix.
You keeping busy there in Texas? Looks like you been knocking out those roofs.

The election slow down will be next year... I am not looking forward to it.
Houston's 2 main revenue sources are oil & gas and medical. Due to the BP blow out in the gulf Obama decided to no longer issue drilling permits in the gulf... There was a mass exodus of drilling boats from the gulf to other parts of the world due to this dumb financial decision. Many jobs were lost and endangered in the Houston area. Now Obama has about faced after realizing his mistake and allowed drilling permits in the gulf again. That might help in a year or two because all those ships that left are now committed to drilling in other parts of the world.
In July Obama said he was going to raise the debt ceiling, then the congress took for ever to vote one it and our bond ratings were increased. That scared everyone and now they do not want to spend money. Unemployement is at a very high peak now and over 20% of the population is on food stamps. Most of my customers are upper eschelon and when they see their stocks and retirement plans dwindling they quit spending money on things that are not necessary.

Yes we need to get rid of him for sure................................now back to wood soft washing.
This is a cedar roof on a garage. It is about 18 yr’s old. I used a 2% mix and sprayed it twice. Once one day then I went back two days later and sprayed it the second time. The reason I did this as AC stated in one of his posts, that cedar is soft wood and you don’t want to over bleach it. It looks better in person but I took pictures anyway.

Here is a deck we completed last year. This was before Green Wash was available. I sure wish I had the Green Wash back then. The deck came
out Fantastic. The home owners were very pleased with the results. They were amazed at the transformation, and had no idea their badly
weathered and neglected deck could look new again.
This deck was SOFT WASHED, sprayed with a wood brightener, and stained with an Oil Based Stain. We started playing with the SOFT WASH Process in 2008, and in 2009 we were almost completely Soft Washing in place of pressure washing. When AC hit the "Main Stream" if you will in 2010 and started promoting Soft Washing, We knew we were on the right path for exterior cleaning.

I have not sprayed cedar shake yet. I had a customer call for a quote on cedar shake siding last week. Did you do anything after spraying SH? What did you do to neutralize your mix?
Thanks, Dan
