Hey Guys, Getting ready to clean a clients house that is white aluminum siding. Planning on using the softwash system with a 10% mix of SH. Being aluminum do you guys for see any problems with rust. I've never cleaned aluminum, only vinyl.
Also planning on charging $1.25 per running foot, how does that price sound?
Price is in the middle. Is this a one story or two? Make sure you get at least $200 an hour from the time you leave your last job till you finish that one. UV rays can break down the powder coat on alum siding. You will prob see some loss of the color and even bare alum on the west side and even some on the south. Tell the customer this so they dont freak out. Its the suns fault not yours.
It is a one story house on three side, but the back is two stories. Planning on just doubling up on the linear feet on the back. I will test first, and let the homeowner know what might happen. Thanks for the advise.
Aluminum is nothing to be feared, but warning the customer is essential. Depending on the condition of the substrate pressure washing may be a more viable source of cleaning. As the paint degrades on aluminum it leaves a chalky residue behind(oxidation). Hitting it with a pw with something like purple power will help remove that where a softwash wont. Basically anybody with aluminum siding at this point is going to need a paint job also. Be very careful to warn the client.

I have seen oxidation on aluminum, and a degreaser will be needed to help remove. Also, acid works. use a buffered solution from Eachochem at THE RIGHT DILUTION. This means testing. But, as everyone else says, tell the customer to temper their expectations. Oxidation will also occur on vinyl siding! Strengthen your mix with more degreaser- purple power, Kurd outer, simple cherry, etc.....
