Would it be best to use steel, polypropylene, or polyester strapping bands? What do you use to secure your tanks and equipment in your rigs?

Steel rusts, but would work fine if only used one season at a time, no? Pallet can be broken down and stored in the off season. Highest in tinsel strength?

Polypropylene- stands up to the chemical, but is only designed for light to medium duty unitizing, palletizing and bundling. It is unstable, and loses about 50% of the applied tension within an hour. It loses strength with prolonged heat and is susceptible to UV damage. Would you trust it with a 100 gallon tank? For how long?

Polyester - Strongest of the plastic straps and is a viable alternative to steel straps, in some industries. Does that include softwashing?

Nylon- Greatest specific strength of the 3 plastics, but it is the most expensive.

I'm tired of looking at this tank I can't use because it won't be safe and secure on the road...

Hey Vic, glad to see you again!

I have aluminum straps holding down my 50 gallon tank. I have hook bolts going through my trailer to secure the straps. I got my straps with my tank, but you could probably go by any nearby sheet metal shop and have them cut you a couple of stripes. I have some ~1/4 inch neoprene between my tank and the straps to protect them from the corners of the aluminum straps.  Cut the straps a little more narrow than the width of the strap slots on the tank so the neoprene will be able to hang over each side of the strap.

Hi Troy,

You sound just like our friend Jacob Daley.

That was what he told me in another conversation, but he did mention that if the skids will only be seasonal,

I may as well use nylon ratchets (like in the pics).  You got a little more specific and it all helps!

Good to see you, too. I've been sick a while but am trying to snap out of it.

I don't want to put any holes in the Linex truck bed. Wanting to secure pallets to the sides by rope?

Still a work in progress. I think I know just the shop here locally, so will give them a try if we go with aluminum.

Thanks again! I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. You have always helped others.

I thought I was an orphan <grin>. And that was fine, but you just made my day!

I try, good sir, I try!

I'm not sure how you could really secure the equipment without mounting it to the truck bed. If you don't want to drill holes, well, this would still require holes but maybe you could seal these with something to keep the holes protected.
