Had a facebook conversation with a roof-a-cide company, I am not sure if they are a roof cleaning business or not, I'm confused now.
Anyone use this stuff?
Cleaning the roof every couple of years IS damaging to the shingles. That's why we eliminate the need for cleaning and the wear & tear associated with cleaning or the use of harsh chemicals like chlorine bleach. (But yet their video states that it needs to be done every couple years) some of our customers have 20 years old roofs that have NEVER been cleaned - but yet they're spotless
(Never been cleaned, but yet there spotless?)
the treatment is an algaecide that is approved by every major roof materials manufacturer and it PREVENTS algae from growing on the roof for YEARS every time we treat the roof. We guarantee AT LEAST two full years. AND the product is so safe, you can drink it!
Our goal is to ELIMINATE the need for Roof Cleaning
(Your product will kill and prevent algae from growing but yet so safe you can drink it?)
BUT this isn't about Roof Cleaning, it's about preventing the stains so the roofs never need to be cleaned - so we can eliminate ANY unnecessary wear & tear on the roof.
(their not cleaning the roofs because it causes wear and tear, but they treat the roof every couple years to prevent any growth?)
I know you have been dealing with them in your state for years, I now have a company near me that is pushing it.
They are pushing heavy on the "Never clean your roofs" theme. Once I speak with the homeowners, they are discovering that just maybe roof a cide is not the way to go.
Now not only do I get to deal with roof shampoo I have a roof a cide as well.
Just thankful for the training in proper roof cleaning that SoftWash Systems has given me so that I am prepared to go up against these types of companies.
Roof A Cide is using cooper sulphate and sulfuric acid if you go over their amounts per once you Kill!!!! Every thing on the ground and Rust every thing on the roof and ground and they don't tell every one that their product reacts with paint and needs another product to get it off.
They do have a cleaning product but it has to be washed off with high volume aka Pressure Washing.

This was in their top 5 roof cleaning mistakes section.....WHO THE HELL IS GONNA MIX 60-70 GALLONS OF SH WITH 30 GAL OF WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Since Manufacturers suggest using chlorine bleach, then chlorine bleach is safe for the roof, and a stronger mixture should work even better - Take 20 Aspirin and Call Me in the Morning: One of the most common sales pitches of companies using high-strength pool chlorine (aka Softwash, Softwashing, ARMA Approved, Manufacturer Recommended) for Roof Cleaning is that this is the ONLY recommended method for cleaning. This is simply NOT TRUE. And, more importantly, these contractors are usually using the chlorine bleach in concentrations that are not safe and not even close to what Manufacturers suggest. Here in Florida, it is very common for these contractors to mix 60-70 gallons of pool chlorine with 30 gallons of water and spray this concoction on your roof.
Note: The typical contractor using these terms as part of their sales pitch has been "educated", "trained", or "certified" by the Whack-A-Mole type websites and organizations that charge them a small fee for Roof Cleaning Information. They are constantly popping up and shutting down - giving inexperienced contractors just enough knowledge to be dangerous.
With this line of thinking, if your doctor tells you to take 2 aspirin and call back in the morning, why not take 20? If aspirin is safe and it works, then taking more of it should work better - right?
