After this roof was cleaned, we notice light spots underneath the dormers.. or is the rest of the roof dark? Thats question number 1.
The roof has.. zinc across the top... and copper flashings on every dormer. I did rinse the flashings. I am trying to figure out what caused the roof to appear this darker color?
Did SH come in contact with the zinc and do this? Did it react with the copper flashings? I don't know, but I am trying to solve this for the HO. I have attached the picture feel free to ask any questions.
Without seeing it up close, I would say shingle degranulation or erosion. Just from the constant water flow at the dormer corners, kind of like a downspout from a higher roof onto a lower.
Shingles under the dormers are not exposed to as much Weather as the other shingles. That's probably the original color of the shingles on that roof. Then Other shingles have essentially had a lot more wear and tear on them through Rain, sun, etc.

Well I am glad to see we are all on the same page, bc I had told the HO exactly what all of us have said. She called me today and said the hard rain we had took it all off and that it looks beautiful.. I sort of don't believe her.. she has OCD and I really think she just took her medicine this morning. I guess Ill find out tomorrow when she comes home from work!

Nothing wrong with a little OCD.. I think it makes the world go round.. this woman suffers from OCD.. She told me she has been crying because of those roof stains!
