I have a cedar roof cleaning coming up in a couple weeks, it has some special challenges and I would like to hear the different ways that we all would approach it. (I have the way I am going to do it)
It is a northern Michigan hunting cabin, 1 mile down a dirt 2 track, in the middle of the woods. This job is 75 miles north of my home base and the nearest town is 12 miles away.
1. Cedar shake roof
2. No water hook up at the cabin, the only water is a pond 150 yards behind the cabin
3. Roof is 15 years old and this will be it's first cleaning. Has moss gr
No but really, what is your time worth? And whatever that number is, I doubt they are willing to pay for it since its just a hunting cabin (esp since they don't have any running water).
You would need a pump to either pump water from the pond to your truck, or constantly go back and forth and fill your truck tank with water.
The price of this job makes it worth while even if I had to stay there for 3 days to get it done, but it should only take me one day. The owner was more than happy with the price because of all the issues that I explained to him that are involved in the cleaning of this roof. This "Hunting" cabin puts many homes to shame.
so wait, does it not have any running water at all?? or just no spigots? You make it sound like a huge place, so I would assume then its got a generator to power the water pump so you could hook to a sink faucet if you had too.
Where is it located Dan, I would really like to watch and learn how to clean these types of roofs. If your in northern Mi, you must be close to me. Let me know. " Free Labor "
If you have enough money in job, rent a U haul truck and put 2 300 gallon totes in back. Drive to pond and use either a generator or battery to power a pump to fill the totes and run alot of hose to the cabin. Then use either a booster pump to rinse.
Yes I am going to use the pond for my water supply, I just happen to have a trash pump and more than enough hose that will allow me to fill my 300 gallon tank with water for rinsing the roof, I will be passing the water thru 3 different filter systems to keep as much debris out as possible. Will be using my booster pump for the rinsing of the roof
Shaun I like the free labor, I will get ahold of you when I get the date for the cleaning.
