3 percent every time, generally a 2nd coat will only be some tough spots. White roofs are the only times where it takes multiple applications. This is pertaining to asphalt shingles.

for Sodium Hypoclorite i wanted to get a running tally on who is spraying 2 coats and if they are using 3% or 4%
We have been using one coat of 3% but have noticed sometimes it might require a second coat to get all the black streaks out. thinking about going to 4% for just one coat.
On cedar never NEVER go above a 2% solution. Just remember that. Cedar roofs are the only ones I know that over use of bleach can actually remove natural color.
We have not mixed a 4% for roofs yet. Depending on the severity of the stains, we use one coat and touch up with a second. Like Zach said...nasty white shingles almost always require two coats, and sometimes a third touch up coat.
We spray every roof with 4%, We do 1 coat, and then a touch up on the very heavy black areas. Most roofs 1 coat is all it takes, no touch ups.
As far as plants go, only burn ups we had were during the summer heat wave week.
Many(80%) of the roofs we service have extremely heavy moss and lichen due to the shade provided in this densely wooded area. We spray these roofs with a 4% plus mix. Other scenarios we spray with with 3%.
