We just had one this week. We took a big beach ball and let it float in the pond, and then tarped the whole pond off. This will prevent any run off issues. You are going to want to rinse off that section of roof though beore removing that tarp.

Also get some powder sodium thiosulfate in case the bleach gets in the water. That is the active ingredient in the fish tank chlorine out.

We have done a few roofs this year with koi ponds and we take extra care with these, always tarp the area so that no chemicals can get into the water.
I am always surprised when I go to these to give a quote and I go over the steps we take to protect the water and the fish and then the homeowner tells me that the other places that quoted never even made a comment at all about the koi pond. Makes me wonder if they were going to do anything to protect them.
Guess the homeowners will never find out, seeing as we have got everyone we bid on that had koi ponds.

AC....I was actually going to call you and ask what the name of the powder was to put in the pond so thank you for replying.

Dan....you are right about the customer being impressed that I took extra concern in the pond and explained the process of protecting the pond/koa fish.
