What is the orange stains/organisms I have been seeing on roofs. It almost looks like the algae growing on my coral in the fish tank. I spray with SH and it doesnt do too much. It finally lightens with many coats and it looks like it takes forever to clean. Has anyone else run into this and what is best way to clean? I have also seen it on some concrete patios. I told homeower it is dead and will diminish over time.
YES, we have it here in Florida as well. Commonly grows close to the ocean areas. Some inland. California has it real bad. The chem kills it but it is colorfast and doesn't bleach easily. Just give it time it does die.
we have been seeing them all year on roofs and some concrete/ paver areas also. I looked them up back in April because I wasn't sure if it would die with a treatment. They are orange and yellowish lichens called...Ascomycetes Foliose. We see them about once a week now and have been hitting thenmulti with a second coat just to be sure, and it works. I have gone back on a few jobs we did in April and they are gone. They tend to take longer to fall off and I tell the customer up front. Hope this helps.
Yes I have seen the orange spots on a tile roof that I cleaned last week some are still their but they are fading. This roof was real bad!! I thought I would run out of mix at 4.5% 110gal . The orange spots just wouldn't pull out. The home owner was happy with the job I did and pay'ed me more yea!!! I Always charge more for tile roofs!
