While cleaning the city park around Lake Ella today, I noticed an old, moss covered monument behind the VFW post. Being the clean freak that I am, I couldn't help but gently wash it to remove the years of accumulated growth. Turns out it was a monument from France to our American troops thanking them for their part in France's liberation (my french is pretty rusty, but I think that was the gist of it). Kind of a crazy coincidence that fate would put me there on this day to spiffy up that old hunk of stone....the Anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy (D-day).

I owe the American soldier a debt I can never repay. Thank you all for your service and sacrifices!

Wish I had taken "before" photos, but honestly had no idea of the significance of this marker when I started cleaning.

Ray,
Great job on cleaning the monument and that was a good thing that spray wash did for the VFW post.
