3 Good Reasons! Help your sales!

I am looking for 3 good reasons under each of the following categories on the benefits of having your roof cleaned.

Structurally, Health Impact, Aesthetics, Energy Savings

Structure; Stops damage, can increase shingle life.....

Health Impact. Eliminates Mold...

Aestetics, Makes your home look newer...

Energy Savings, Lowers attic temperature...

I don't care if you repeat what someone has already wrote, just try and write it in your own words.   Lets see how much you know? Knowledge is power and power is money! And since X is = to Y, therefor Knowledge = Money!

Structure- prevent shingle deterioration which leads to water infiltration. Which leads to saturation of wood causing rot to sheathing and framing members.

Health- remove bacteria which can possibly set off allergies, water infiltration mentioned above can also cause mold issues

aesthetics-Makes house look fantastic! :)

Energy- Algae covers the granules, which reduces solar reflectivity.

I wouldn't make any claims about mold. See page 17
http://www.epa.gov/mold/pdfs/moldguide.pdf
Also check the center for disease control CDC and New York city health dept. or the mold licensing officials in your area. Of course many people make the claim anyway, but I digress.

In my experience the benefit of a clean home, pride in the home, making the neighbors jealous etc. are the benefits most seem to care about.

Things like, have the most gorgeous looking home on the block!!

I find people refer to mold as anything black.  If you guys haven't noticed there are some customers that DO NOT CARE if there roof is turning black! It is our goal as salesman to find what entices them. Do they eat steak or seafood? Do they care about aesthetics or do they want a lower energy bill?  I will speak for myself but when I approach a sale, I mention the roof looks horrible, and its being damaged. This is good, but we can be a whole lot better.   It seems like most of us don't have answers for energy and health?

energy is a non issue up north as we have more heating days that cooling days. I never mention it. Health is a non-issue as it relates to roof cleaning. It is all about aesthestics and the potential decreased service life of the roof. If a customer doesnt care if roof is turning black, then they are not willing to pay the premium price for my service.

Energy is an issue, I had a woman tell me she chose white to reflect the sun! She wants her roof cleaned, so it will reflect the sun again. I just finished cleaning this commercial job, try telling them energy isn't an issue.  No one thinks of snow blowers during the summer on the other hand everyone thinks about Air Conditioning and electricity in the summer.

Now lets come up with some reasons for health! AC we made need some help! Roof bacteria may provide a breeding ground for other bacteria? Sick building disease/Legionnaires disease and such?

Dan,

Great job on the commercial metal roof. Like you I give the customers the various reasons to clean their roof. Each customer is different in their motivation to have their roof or siding cleaned. I had one customer(wife of the president of a local bank) who had me clean 7000 sq foot of roof, three stories of cedar siding, pool chairs and concrete pool deck just to eliminate the potential health issues for her children.

Hank
