We have solar panels popping up here all over the place. I haven't had to clean around them yet but I have a a bid coming. Has anybody dealt with this issue and if so how do you handel cleaning them or around them without the mix causing problmes?
I had solar panels at the resort i cleaned. I asked them if they have any leakage. They said no but i still drew up something for them to sign saying there were no leaks. I cleaned like regular. No leaks. No problems.
The one time I had a roof fully covered by panels, I just let my mix spray under them from the top of the roof. It wasn't bad because they were about 5 inches off of the roof.
I wish we had enough sun that it would warrant having solar panels on roofs around here. Here it is a couple days from the start of spring and the roofs in the neighborhood are still covered with snow.
I spoke to a couple solar installers and they said it was a non issuue for the residential installs because they are sloped more and stay clean with the the rain and they are generally smaller arrays. They said it is more of an issue on commercial with low slope and more panels.
Solar panels actually Need to be cleaned in many areas! Algae can bake onto the glass portion and make them less efficient. The glass actually needs to by brush scrubbed... Not just sprayed. Its an upsell for us...usually $125 for a small array. We also rinse the mounting hardware with fresh water when cleaning just the roof.
