Lead chimney flashing issue

How do you guys hand lead chimney flashings? Sometimes they oxidize horribly from the roof chems. I know from experience that it's only temporary but is there a way to prevent this? Would bleach wash help at all? Sometimes the chimneys are just plain inaccessible, so using a shield to cover them is not always possible.

The picture I attached is a perfect example, showing where I sprayed the chemicals that the flashings turned brown almost immediately. I would love to remedy this problem. Sometimes I can block them with a piece of plywood and keeping them wet does not alleviate the problem much.

Thanks

BW might work but then you'd also be getting it on the roof prior to cleaning and it my inhibit cleaning. Knowing that the color change is temporary I'd weigh the cost benefit of doing a lot to prevent it. Managing expectations can go a long way. Since we all ready are telling client that the roof will continue to clean with rainfall letting them know that any discoloration to flashing will also improve would be a good approach.

Most have not even noticed it but I do for sure. I was even thinking of getting one of those rolls of saran wrap that is made for packaging stuff, and wrapping the flashings good before I spray. Maybe I will give that a shot.
Thanks Gregg, anyone else?

We also had this issue on flashing and especially on the soft "lead" zinc that they wrap around stink pipes. It is temporary and we just couldnt find a reasonable prevention. Neutralizing the chems with Bleach Wash would help some but I dont think it is worth the effort. Trust me I'd love to sell more Bleach Wash.

Thanks for the reply, I know there is a product that can be brushed on the chimney flashings that seal them and give them a nice sheen. Although it most likely is not something I could do the same day and would require another trip.
I think I will give the packaging Saran wrap on a roll a shot and see how it goes. At least for the jobs where it is very noticeable.
