Spots on the windows

Had 3 jobs this weekend and turned out well. 1 roof, 1 roof/house, 1 house siding and guttering only.  We still get some spotting on windows from bleach even after hitting with bleach wash.  How quickly are you guys hitting the windows after the bleach has been applied?  What should be a realistic outcome for the windows so that the customer isn't expecting a spit shine they aren't paying for?

Did you rinse the bleach wash? That was the mistake I made at first, the wax from the bleach wash leaves spotting. You have to make sure you rinse it. Only issue I ever had with windows, they were 80-90 year old windows.

if windows are in sun i tell my guys to wet them first with water to cool them down. then spray house mix. wait no longer then 2 min before rinsing them off. then rinse again after 5 min. we found one rinse is not enough.

Used the bleach wash.  Josh I will try wetting them first before hitting them with bleach.  These are more from our water here too.

Also, if you've got hard water that you're rinsing with, its almost impossible to get the spots off...since the very water your are rinsing with is causing the spots.

and Ditto what josh said

It is a good chance it is caused by hard water.  If it is the SH dried on the easiest way to clean is with a 50 -50 mixture of vinegar and water.  We carry an Unger squeegee with sponge on the other side and we will use on the big windows in the 2 story foyers above entrance since that is a critical area

Yes I always...

1. Pre moisten.
2. Rinse during and after.
3. Bleach Wash apply and truck wash brush.
4. Rinse again.
5. Blow dry water off with blower.

We get $5.00 a window for this service.

HOWEVER Lexington!

Mike you missed my question did you RINSE the bleach wash application.  Just bleach washing will leave spots on the window. The next step is to rinse the bleach wash off the window. Just making sure your doing it properly because "NOT RINSING" the bleach wash off the window that will spot them everytime.

Yes we rinsed the bleach wash.  This looks like hard water spots to me.  That is an issue in this area.

I think that is the best way.I used to hire a company to wash the window-wall at my house, but now I actually put it in one of those windex bottles you attach to a garden house, spray on, rinse off & then squeegee. Comes out very nice.

I have the same windex bottle thanks to Doug.  I will try the squeegee method on next house.  Thanks for the tip

We always brush the windows with a soft car wash brush during the cleaning and rinse as quickly as possible. Getting the surface dirt off really reduces any spotting on the windows. I have a separate hose lying around for my brush guy to rinse windows with. After the job is done, we always do a walk around and will periodically have to brush a few windows with Dawn and water. This gets the windows as clean as possible without using a squeege on every window.

I always add a rinse aid to my mix when windows might be a issue. Customer info - expectations as part of the bid.
