I happened to pass by a company cleaning the top of a water tower today.

Thought I'd share some pics. This would be a nice job for Soft Washing.

first you rent a helicopter to do the estimate. then you pick the guy in charge up and take him out to diner buy him some drinks then after he is drunk then give him the proposal and make him sign it. Bam! that is how you land those type of jobs.

Haha, I may have to try this. That sounds like the best method I heard.

Actually micheal... You hit it on the head, except for the helicopter part.

Develop a relationship with the utility department in your municipality. Find out the decision maker and service the account. In Florida I believe is a law that once every two years they must to an internal inspection of the tanks, so around that time they usually clean them too.

As far as the pictures are concerned, I would have rented a 40 ton crane and man basket, softwashed it and been done in 6 hours max.

Why both? Crane and Man lift?

Not a lift, a man basket for the crane ( its usually an extra charge). having a qualified crane operator moving you around really helps speed up the job.

As far as servicing accounts go, many of our deals come in a full year after we make initial contact. Call, follow up, visit. When the decision maker needs cleaning, you want them to think of your company. One simple drop by where you leave a card will not bring you "top of mind awareness".

its all about that "TOMA". I set a goal for the end of the year, to clean one more commercial job this year. I make go with the wine and dine method. I will keep you posted.

And the basket makes much more sense than 2 lifts.
