This is mentioned in other threads, so to clean things up a bit, I wanted to post it in its own thread. So far the calculator has worked very well, it gives the customer a ball park, estimate. I invite critism but please respond with a way you would fix the problem.

Thanks, the problem I found with asking a HO what the dimensions are. Is simply this, they have no idea how long or wide their house is, but they typically know the sqft, that is why I decided to go with sqft? As far as an estimate, ya dimensions would be more more accurate. I think the pitch diagram is a great idea. The small disclaimer is necessary.

I like it but I think you may have a calc backward when I change from a 3 story to a 1 story the price goes up?

Very nice though it will defiantly pre qualify potential customers.

The 3 story is designed to be lower because it should have less roof area than a 1 story home of the same sqft.

My only concern with the 3 vs 1 story is that we are placing ourselves at higher "risk" for a lower compensation. Seems like it would be equitable for us to maintain the same price per square foot regardless of height. I wouldn't have a problem charging 3x as much for 3x the potential fall. Not all roofs have a convenient place to anchor to!!

@ Mark your right about the anchoring, do you have the SWS anchor that AC Makes? I love it, $100 but pays for itself after on job.

@AC I agree, getting infront of them and educating is very important. Some customers, don't like getting on the phone to do business, some customers don't like selling in person. Calculating through the website, and then using an email is just a way some people like to do business.

Its like when corporations offer phone support, or chat support.

Always appreciate the input.

If you wanted to give customers a ball park estimate i would take some pictures of roofs you have cleaned and post those pictures with the prices you charged so customers can compare. Just an idea
