Nandina Domestica or Heavenly Bamboo shows little or no tolerance to salt. Typically they will drop all of their leaves when any chemical containing salt enters the soil around the root system. They are much like Hibiscus bushes in that if you whisper bleach in their ear they freak out.
Precautionary,
Always pre-water these plants HEAVILY so that they consume fresh water before cleaning and are water logged unable to drink from the tainted water that will soon flow. A list of plants that need pre-watered are those above plus Bouginvilla vine / plants.
Reactionary,
Luckily Nandina, Hibiscus and Bouginvilla are all inexpensive and are easy to replace when small. If you damage one you must use Plant Wash and water mixed in a 5 gallon bucket and poured directly into the soil at the base and 2' around the plant. I recomend getting some bagged cow manure and breaking the soil with a shovel and mixing the cow manure into the soil and watering in with two 5 gallon buckets of water / Plant Wash per label instructions. Prune the bush by 30% and have the homeowner water the bush every other day with 10 gallons of water.
Good news, bad news about nandina.... It loves to shed and shocks very easily. Good news is that the leaves to grow back....if it wasn't damaged too terribly.

Went by the customer's house and explained everything and put some more of AC's Miracle Grow sprinkled around root system while it was raining. Told him to keep watered over next few weeks real well and should pull through. Tested one of the plants limbs with finger nail and it is green as ever under bark. Looks like it will live and customer seems happy with our quick response to the situation and even gave a referral to the neighbor.
